ABOUT
Jacob Nordlinger, cello
Jestin Pieper, piano
Elizabeth Wright, violin
Praised by the American Prize for their "careful choices, elegant phrasing and beauty of sound virtually always," THE LUMINAE TRIO, based in New York City, performs lesser-known music of the past and present alongside beloved classics. The group, comprised of pianist Jestin Pieper, cellist Jacob Nordlinger, and violinist Elizabeth Wright, formed during the Covid-19 pandemic as a response to the need to keep the arts alive. Individually, its members lead active performing and teaching careers, having performed throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, and South America, and on the stages of Carnegie Hall, Bruno Walter Auditorium, United Nations, and the Kennedy Center.
The Luminae Trio is 2nd prize winner of the 2023 American Prize for the Performance of American Music and 3rd prize winner of the American Prize in Chamber Music. The trio is also a recipient of the 2021 City Artist Corps Grant and a prizewinner of the 2021 Lancaster International Chamber Music Competition. The trio will release their first record this year, funded in part by the New York Community Trust and an Ensemble Forward grant from Chamber Music America.
It is the group's unified vision not only to share chamber music as a means of communication and expression, but also to illuminate the works of underrepresented composers and make this music known.
